The Waldorf Project: Chapter Two/Colour, Oval Space

The Waldorf Project London combines immersive theatre, installation art and fine food to deliver a feast for all the senses

Photography Thomas Bowles
In early February Oval Space plays host to one of the most unique dining experiences in London. The Waldorf Project, Chapter Two/Colour builds on the success of 2012’s Chapter One/Muskmelon to give diners an entirely immersive experience.
What is The Waldorf Project?
Pioneers from the worlds of visual art, gastronomy, theatre, design, electronic music and choreography have collaborated, under the direction of performance and video artist Sean Rogg, to create a “synchronisation of consumption and emotional sentience.” This is definitely more art installation than pop up, as visitors are invited to consume art through all of the senses.
Chapter Two/Colour
The theme for this year’s event at Oval Space, London is colour. Seven courses served in seven monochrome environments demonstrate the synergy between what we see, taste, smell, hear and touch. The use of colour to structure the experience means that a new environment is created for every course which teases out the emotional potential of colour, way beyond the simple pleasures experienced by the palate.
For food lovers, the Waldorf Project boasts an amazing array of different wines for each course, some being the last of their type in the world, served in Waterford Crystal tumblers.
So if you are looking for things to do in east London, hurry, because there is only space for 48 diners to be a part of this London art installation.
