The Science Museum, South Kensington is hosting one of London’s top photography exhibitions this winter, bringing together 200 images by some of the greatest names in photography. Ranging from idyllic landscapes to evocative nudes, Drawn by Light offers an extraordinary selection of images from the Royal Photographic Society’s permanent collection of over 250,000 photographs.
Highlights include some of the earliest known photographic images, dating back to the 1820s, by astounding pioneers like Roger Fenton and William Henry Fox Talbot. Displayed alongside are contemporary images by masters of modern photography including Martin Parr and Terry O’Neill.
You’ll also discover a number of key photographic artefacts, from the Nicéphore Nièpce heliographs to Talbot’s camera lucida sketchbook, inviting visitors on a whirlwind tour of the medium’s history.
