Brutalism: Our / London, Hackney Downs
Adjoining Hackney Central station, Our/London is an artisanal vodka producer (its label changes depending on the city you're in – Our/Berlin, Our/New York, etc) distilling some of the best spirit in the city. This summer the distillery will throw open its doors to host Brutalism an exhibition curated by young contemporary artists Joe Clarke and George Stevens.

In their latest body of work, Clarke and Stevens explore subjects related to Britain’s working-class urban environment, atmosphere, architecture and landscape. They reappropriate raw industrial materials typically found on council estates and building sites to create angular architectural shapes that ooze a disquieting beauty.

By playing with textures, colours and objects that are typically associated with the impoverished, gritty environments of inner-city London, they uncover beauty where it’s least expected.

Brutalism will be open to view by appointment only. Contact london@ourvodka.com to book now.
