An evening with Fredrikson Stallard

The acclaimed avant-garde British Design firm Fredrikson Stallard – Swedish-born Patrik Fredrikson and Briton Ian Stallard, who trained and met at Central St Martins art college in the 1990s – is exclusively inviting Culture Whisper members to an evening of art, music and design at its state-of-the-art East London headquarters.

Guests are being offered exclusive access to the artists’ latest collaborative project, Hybrideae – usually only possible to see by appointment – which promises to be an all-encompassing sensual treat.

The exhibition, running until the end of this month, explores the interplay between traditional and digital technologies used during the 21^st-century design process through objects that are both functional and fine-art sculptures.

Fredrikson and Stallard’s sculptural vessels featured in Hybrideae have been transformed from expressive objects of soft, red terracotta through a process of digital enlargement into permanent, solid, white bronze sculptures. All the pieces on display feature the traces of the fabrication process, preserving each work's individuality.

Whilst exploring Hybrideae, music specifically composed for the exhibition by contemporary composer Rosey Chan, famous for her style that blends the classical with improvisation and electronica, soloist cellist Gerald Peregrine and, of course, the design team that is Fredrikson Stallard, will play in the background.
