In anticipation of May 7, we asked our favourite figures in the arts to tell us what makes Britain feel like home.

"I recently had a tepid curry on a cross channel ferry. It was p*ssing down. i raised a toast to the disappearing cliffs of this silly isle with a plastic pint of watered-down lager served by a harassed Polish teenager."
