Frank Ocean new album released... but it's not called Boys Don't Cry

It may not be called Boys Don't Cry but new Frank Ocean album Blonde could well be the best album of 2016... and it's finally, finally here.

Frank Ocean new album released... but it's not called Boys Don't Cry
Frank Ocean's new album Boys Don't Cry was supposed to be the biggest album release of 2015. Instead it was the year's biggest non-release. July rolled by without any excuse or apology from the mysterious R&B artist, and here we were a year later, still waiting. Ocean's website was filled with due date stamps that for the last twelve months, archly referencing his own tardiness and the Internet's dismayed response to it.

The wait is over, though. Ocean's website has posted a video called (not exactly ironically) 'Endless' – an 18-track, visual album streaming exclusively on Apple Music – and an old-fashioned, non-visual 'real' album called Blonde is now available on iTunes.

Ocean started his career writing for the likes of John Legend and Justin Bieber, before becoming part of the ground-breaking alternative hip-hop group, Odd Future in 2010. Now, the New Orleans-born singer, songwriter flies solo with a distinctly unique style - which is strikingly present on his two new releases.

We'd even wager that this Frank Ocean project - video Endless and album Blonde - will be the best album of a year that's seen major releases from Beyoncé, Drake, and Kanye West, and which we're only halfway through.

We know you're already listening to it, though. Let's all plug our headphones back in until we've come to some conclusions.
