Love Letters Straight From Your Heart, Battersea Arts Centre

In the red-tinted world of Love Letters Straight From Your Heart, it’s always Valentine’s Day. Part-theatre show, part-DJ set, this moving performance is based around the deceptively simple premise of reading out dedications from members of the audience to their loved ones – think Steve Wright’s Sunday Love Songs meets performance art.

The performance is set up as a wedding reception, with guests sitting at a long table drinking cava while the bride and groom turn into rival djs. Ahead of the night, theatre company Uninvited Guests has invited ticket holders to e-mail their song dedications. On the night, these tracks are played and the accompanying odes to partners, mums, dads and best friends read out. 

After touring the country for the last few years, Love Letters Straight From Your Heart is returning to London for a short run at the Battersea Arts Centre (BAC), a beautiful old town hall turned arts venue. Local residents can also catch Uninvited Guests later in the year in the BAC’s family Christmas show The Good Neighbour.

For the loved-up, the broken-hearted and especially for the cynical, this is a must-see dose of charm with a soundtrack that pulsates to its fiercely beating heart. This outing at BAC might be the last chance to catch the show in London, so make sure you don’t miss out.
