Ah, Wilderness! play summary
American playwright Eugene O'Neill's 1933 exploration of adolescent lessons and coming of age in small town Connecticut is a favourite across the pond. It's enjoyed two different Broadway musical adaptations (Take me Along and Summer Holiday) and been made into a Hollywood film. While the touching family tale is relatively unknown in the UK, this large-scale Young Vic revival is set to bring Ah Wilderness! into the mainstream.
Eugene O'Neill: theatre and plays
Euegene O'Neill is best known for the tautly tragicomic and partly autobiographical Long Day's Journey into Night, which won the 1957 Pultizer Prize. Ah, Wilderness explores similarly domestic themes, but through a lighter lens, focussing more on the foibles of growing up and set against the all-American backdrop of Independence Day.
Natalie Abrahami - Young Vic return
Young Vic Associate Director Natalie Abrahami will take the helm. Having impressed so much with her production of Happy Days that the rerun was announced before final curtain, the award-winning director will follow this success with Ah, Wilderness -- which opens just weeks after Happy Days closes.
Ah Wilderness revival: cast
The impressive cast includes George MacKay (Sunshine on Leith, Pride), Georgia Bourke (Hollyoaks, Silent Witness), who will be making her stage debut alongside theatre heavyweights Janie Dee (Blithe Spirit, Noises Off) and Dominic Rowan (The Cherry Orchard, A Doll's House).

Tickets: Young Vic Booking
In 2014 the Young Vic broke ticket sales records, with smash hits A Streetcar Named Desire and A View from the Bridge. We predict that the new 2015 season will be a similar sellout so book fast.
