Chimera, Gate Theatre

Chimera brings a scientific angle of the Gate's new 'Who does she think she is?' season after an acclaimed premiere in New York.

Chimera, Gate Theatre
It promises to be a fascinating study of the relationship between our minds and bodies, told through the personal story of one woman who discovers she is her own twin.
Writer Deborah Stein and performer, Suli Holum each have had considerable success in the States individually, and now together run a collaborative laboratory for creating new theatre. The most exciting work in the UK is also now being made along such lines, and it's inspiring to see two women forging their own rules for what a creative partnership should look like. Chimera won them a nomination for a Drama Desk Award when it was at the Public Theater, New York, and we're really excited that the Gate will welcome them in London.
The story promises to draw in hugely wide-ranging issues, from rare medical conditions, family dynamics, mythology and female psychology; we're sure this one-woman show will also be visually stunning, with cutting-edge video design woven into the narrative. We expect a show that will make us laugh, provoke considerations and questions about how we construct our own identity.
