With Mean Girls screenwriter turned comic superstar Tina Fey behind the play script, it's no surprise that the cult appeal of the 2004 film translates slickly to the stage. The show goes heavy on all the catchphrases and caustic comedy we know and love, while slyly updating the story to an age of social media. And there's a peppy selection of original songs by composer Jeff Richmond and lyricist Nell Benjamin.

New girl Cady Heron swaps the African savannah for the wilds of North Shore High School in Illinois. There she must acclimatise to a new food chain, where freaks, geeks, mathletes and misfits are ruled by a trio of pretty, popular girls known as The Plastics. When Cady is invited into the clique, she plans to dissemble the queen bees from the inside, but soon finds herself succumbing to the glamour of girl world.

The show is due to transfer to London in the summer of 2024 following a four-year delay because of the pandemic. Get your tickets now, losers, we're going to the theatre.
