The Height of the Storm, Wyndham's Theatre

Jonathan Pryce and Eileen Atkins star in a new family drama by French playwright Florian Zeller

Eileen Atkins and Jonathan Pryce: The Height of the Storm, Wyndham's Theatre
Britain's love affair with Olivier-winning French playwright Florian Zeller continues as family drama The Height of the Storm embarks upon a national tour that begins at the Richmond Theatre and ends at the West End's Wyndham's Theatre.

Much like Zeller's past successes, The Father and The Mother, new play The Height of the Storm focuses on the complexities of family bonds and relationships. Stage veterans and multi award-winners Jonathan Pryce and Eileen Atkins play the couple at the centre of the titular storm.

Fifty years into their relationship, André and Madeleine start to sense something strange. Their adult daughters are home for the weekend, but it's far from harmonious family time. A bunch of flowers arrives with no note and a woman resurfaces from the distant past, and the family are forced to confront the fragility of life as they know it.

The French script is translated to English by Christopher Hampton, who has adapted many of Zeller's works, and Jonathan Kent directs.

The Height of the Storm runs at Richmond Theatre from 1 to 8 September before touring to Theatre Royal Bath and the Cambridge Arts Theatre. It will run at Wyndham's Theatre in the West End from 2 October to 1 December and tickets are on sale here.
