Cheating Death, Cockpit Theatre
Imagine waking up in a coffin, at your own funeral. Now imagine waking up at your own funeral, with a cheating girlfriend and her new lover in attendance, planning to move into your flat together. This is the set-up of Max Nowaz's new play, Cheating Death, due to begin its run at the Cockpit Theatre this February.

John Jones remembers little about the past day apart from an unpleasant car crash, a hospital bed and some surreal dreams. Everyone struggles to come to terms with John's new reality after not just one but two life changing events. As he attempts to put things together and rediscover his real, normal life, things are bound to get worse before they get better.

Following the publications of novels for children and adults, Max Nowaz has turned to playwriting. Cheating Death, which began life in 2013 as a one-act play, will count as his debut. The cast and crew hail largely from the graduating class of the renowned yet off-the-beaten-track drama school The Poor School in Islington.
