Joanna Lumley and David Walliams in conversation

David Walliams and Joanna Lumley
“Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a million pounds?” begins David Walliams' third children’s book, Billionaire Boy, “Or a billion?” it asks, “How about a trillion? Or even a gazillion?” This is a question to which the author may one day know the answer.

Thanks to the smash hit success of comedy show Little Britain and ambitious charitable escapades including swimming down the Thames, David Walliams has long been popular with grown ups. And since turning his talents to children's literature, Walliams has inspired an army of young readers. He sold over 9.5 million children books and quickly became the best-selling children’s author in the UK. Perhaps becoming a gazillionaire could be within his reach

In an age of iPads and short attention spans, Walliams' books have the rare power to engage and entertain even the most reluctant of readers. Seamlessly written, Walliams’ stories combine larger-than-life characters (neglectful parents, bank-robbing grannies and terrifying school teachers abound) with poignant plot lines and a scattering of eye-watering scatological humour that has its readers - young and old - bent double with laughter.

This weekend, Walliams is teaming up with Absolutely Fabulous comedienne Joanna Lumley, Patron of The Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust, and inviting families to join him for a marvellous morning of sticky stories and quirky questions.

Take a sneaky peek into the world of one of the biggest selling children’s authors to find out why David’s Auntie isn’t really awful and ask about the characters from his books.

After the talk, youngsters can take away their very own copy of Grandpa’s Great Escape and have it signed by David himself.
