... at Hideaway, Mayfair


Ollie Dabbous' Hidwaway - the more casual spin-off of critically acclaimed restaurant Hide - finds a permanent space in Mayfair after two successful pop-ups in Burlington Arcade and Chelsea Barracks last year. Expect coffees and pastries in the morning, Croque Monsieurs with truffle and lobster meal deals.

The latest project from the effortlessly-cool tastemaker is a 'sporting club'. London based illustrator Fee Greening has teamed up with trendy candle-makers Evermore to create a limited edition scented candle, Winter Solstice. Inspired by Midwinter - the longest, darkest night of the astronomical calendar - the Christmas scent is a rich and mysterious accord of amber, clove and star anise.

... Lynette Yiadom-Boakye at Tate Britain


Lynette Yiadom-Boakye is undoubtedly one of her generation's most intriguing painters. Her style is heavily influenced by the old masters, painters such as Goya and Manet, but there is no doubt that her work is the product of a modern mind. This winter, Tate Britain is staging an exhibition of over 80 works by the Turner-nominated artist, the most comprehensive survey of her career to date

... Ma Rainey's Black Bottom


Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is Chadwick Boseman’s final film, in which he stars alongside Viola Davis. Adapted from the play by Pulitzer winner August Wilson (Fences), the story's set in 1920s Chicago at a recording session for black musicians. Ma Rainey (Davis), the ‘Mother of the Blues’, fights with her white manager over control of her music.
