The Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl, Southbank Centre

Celebrate the centenary of Roald Dahl's birth at the Southbank Centre Imagine Children's Festival February half term

Roald Dahl: Southbank Centre festival
If you are racking your brains to find May half term activities in London, look no further than The Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl.

To celebrate 100 years since the birth of beloved children's author Roald Dahl, the Southbank Centre has created a vast immersive theatrical experience - a kind of guided fantasy - that takes children on a magical journey through a labyrinth of rooms created to represent moments from Dahl's own life or a scene from his books.

Slightly frightening, but not terrifying, children are lead by a museum guide from the entrance of the exhibition with its photographs of Great Missenden, the Buckinghamshire village where Dahl wrote his stories, into a mock 1930s school room to goggle at the algebra on the blackboards and the books on the desk. From here, children pick up a crumpled ball of paper revealing a secret, before jumping into the desert of Libya where Dahl the fighter pilot crashed during the Second World War, to forest with a vast giant peach and on...

Boosted by unique items from the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre archives, Dahl’s extraordinary life and the surprising inspiration for his most famous characters and stories are brought to life in unexpected ways: with curious spaces for children to crawl through and interactive installations to spark the imagination or test powers of creativity. Discover a truly Wondercrump world this Easter.
