This half term, families are invited to join an interactive treasure hunt performance at Kew Gardens. Children and parents will join the young heroine Nutmeg, a budding botanist, to prevent Pirate Pepperbeard and his dastardly crew from plundering the valuable spices at Kew.
Children bandy together to help trick Pirate Pepperbeard’s clumsy crew-of-two, Heave and Ho, to complete the treasure hunt, make it to the finale and see whether they have prevented that pesky pirate and his crew from getting away with the spices.
Once children have solved the puzzles around the Gardens, they head to the Princess of Wales Conservatory film room for the final performance.
Performances will run every day at 12pm, 12.30pm, 1pm, 2.15pm, 2.45pm, 3.15pm and 3.45pm
For kids who want to have unstructured fun in Kew Gardens, The Big Draw activities include a a timber pavilion with thousands of spice jars, The Spice Exchange, has been set up in the Gardens and includes a pop-up store from The East India Company and many interactive stations for kids.
Here the little ones can create their own pirate hats, explore historical maps from Kew's archives, and collect Pirate Pepperbeard's very own secret treasure map. Once all puzzles around the Gardens have been solved, families can attend a final performance at the Princess of Wales Conservatory.
Both events are suitable for children of all ages
