Disney in Concert: Alice in Wonderland, Royal Albert Hall

Tim Burton’s Academy Award-winning Alice in Wonderland (2010) film is screening at the Royal Albert Hall before a live orchestral and choral accompaniment. With a score by Danny Elfman, a regular among Tim Burton's collection of go-to talents, expect dark, dramatic music filled with magic and drama that bring tension and mystery to young Alice and her adventures down the rabbit hole.
Conductor John Mauceri will lead the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, the Maida Vale Singers and the Cardinal Vaughan School Schola Cantorum as they musically punctuate our fantastical adventure down the rabbit hole.

This is the moment of Alice in Wonderland, as the young lady from Lewis Caroll's beloved novel turns 150 this year. Unlike the V&A's Museum of Childhood exhibition, or the up-and-coming wonder.land at the National Theatre, the darkness and weirdly of the original story is drawn out by director Tim Burton, and brought to life with stunning cinematography, as a teenage Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical, topsy-turvy world she first entered as a child. It's the most grown-up version of the of the book.

The cast is simply outstanding and includes some of Hollywood’s finest actors. Johnny Depp (the Mad Hatter), Anne Hathaway (the White Queen), Helena Bonham Carter (the Red Queen) and Michael Sheen (the White Rabbit) breathe life into Carroll’s extraordinary characters, vivifying them with unparalleled richness.
Although the acting is highly stylised and not for everyone - the combinations of dazzling visuals and a live orchestra should make for a sensual evening in the Royal Albert Hall.
