Make-It Clay Summer Holidays, V&A

Book now for the Make-It Clay family event at the V&A, teaching children to make clay models this summer

Family events at the V&A: Make-It Clay
Every Wednesday between the 5th and the 26th of August this summer 2015, budding young sculptors and their families can join the V&A's Ceramics Resident Amy Jayne Hughes to make a simple form of hand-made pottery produced for millennia known as pinch pot, and be inspired by designs, patterns and textures in the V&A ceramics collection in making their own masterpieces.
Those attending this children's art class will be good hands with Amy Jayne Hughes, who was nominated to represent the UK in 'New Talent' at the European Ceramic Context 2014 as well as being selected for the inaugural Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize in 2014 for artists who show an exceptional command of ceramics, alongside an awareness of the heritage of ceramic craft. Since graduating form the Royal College of Art and working as Ceramic Artist she has specialised in hand building - the basics of which she will show to children at the V&A -  and works with form and texture, studying its relation to decoration.
Just like the young artists who will be joining her in the studio, artist Amy Jayne Hughes' personal work is often inspired by the incredible ceramics that surround her, in particular the highly prestigious Porcelain wares produced at the Royal Sevres Factory in the late 17th and 18th Centuries
Children must be accompanied by an adult (maximum 1 adult per child) and advance booking essential
Suitable for ages 5+
