Muse of Fire, The Globe

In 2013 we saw the premiere of this unique foray into the hidden depths of Shakespearean history and narrative. To our delight, this February half term, The Globe has now announced its return - to the stage, to the wings and even to beneath the very floorboards of the theatre.
It isn’t easy to find Shakespearean theatre that can to compel and entertain children as young as six years old, but the magical combination of mystery, menace and drama offered by this promenade production is a true stroke of brilliance sure to keep even the liveliest of youngsters captivated.
Audiences are split into groups and guided around The Globe and Sam Wanamaker theatres, encountering a cast of peculiar characters, each within an intimate scene which helps unravel the mystery of the original theatre’s fiery destruction in 1614.
The constant change of pace and a rising air of danger encourages even adult participants to suspend their disbelief, and this production represents a fine example of innovation in family theatre. Each new scenario blends seamlessly into the last, yet introduces a new thread from the works of the bard - from Romeo and Juliet to Macbeth - as well as familiarising its audience with the context of contemporary drama.
