William Morris Week, The Creative Arts Club

A William Morris inspired week of aesthetic exploration and experimentation for art aficionados and budding painters.

William Morris Week, The Creative Arts Club
Since 1861, when he established a creative arts firm with several other key figures of the Arts and Crafts Movement, William Morris’s creations have been an unmistakable feature of English design, and even now their popularity seems to be growing.
Thanks to The Creative Arts Club, Morris’s work is about to reach London’s newest generation of art aficionados and budding painters, as they embark upon a week of aesthetic exploration and experimentation through the exciting activities on offer at William Morris Week.
Participating children can expect to start the week with a brief introduction to art history during a trip to the William Morris Gallery which, as well as an impressive selection of designs and artefacts, boasts a fabulous set of hands on, child friendly activities – the perfect introduction to a week immersed in Art and Crafts.
Children are then invited to spend the following four days applying their knowledge and inspiration to a range of visual media, as they create collages and prints back in The Arts Club studio. Here they can use pencil, charcoal and paint to produce their own designs based around the plant and animal motifs found in Morris’s artwork.
This weeklong workshop is a lovely, active way to nurture your little one's artistic talent or appetite for art history over the summer. The activities are aimed at children from age 5 to 12: there are morning sessions from 9:30 - 12:30 for younger children (ages 5-9); then the afternoon sessions from 1:30 - 4:30 are for older children (ages 10-12).
