Macbeth at Half Term, National Theatre

Witchcraft, murder and treason in the murky world of Shakespeare's Macbeth, staged for younger audiences at The National in 2017

Macbeth for kids, National Theatre 2017 February Half Term
From the team who have treated younger audiences with Romeo and Juliet at half term for the last few years, Shakespeare's story of witchcraft, murder, treason and treachery will be brought to The Dorfman in 2017.

Macbeth at The National this February half-term promises to be a bold retelling of the dark and brooding Scottish Play

The Story....

Shakespeare's Macbeth should be familiar to GCSE students of English Literature and Drama. The play is set in Scotland, where three witches entreat Macbeth with a prophesy that he will become King of Scotland. Alongside his scheming and ambitious wife, Macbeth embarks upon a murderous journey to become and remain King. As he descends into homicidal madness, along with the growing insanity of the menacing Lady Macbeth, an army is approaching to attack the house of Macbeth.

The Production...

Macbeth is set to be adapted and directed for younger audiences by Justin Audibert and will best suit those of middle-school age from 13-16 years. The cast will include Tripti Tripuraneni, Nana Amoo-Gottfried, Jay Saighal, Madeleine Appiah, Ronak Pattani, Kayla Meikle and Ashley Gurlach. It promises to be a fresh and fun adaptation of the play which must not be named and should complement the school English and Drama syllabuses.
