Loose Tubes, Ronnie Scott's

The reformation of the Loose Tubes jazz group live at Ronnie Scott's  in September should not be missed

London, Loose Tubes
Seminal British big band Loose Tubes are back in residence at Ronnie Scott’s performing old favourites, among them Like Life, Yellow Hill and Säd Afrika, along with gloriously scatterbrained new compositions commissioned by the BBC.
The band’s anarchic, genre-defying sound was a formative influence on British jazz in the 1980s and when they parted ways in 1990 they had already spawned legions of imitators.
Members, including pianist Django Bates, saxophonists Julian Argüelles, Iain Ballamy and Mark Lockheart and trumpeter Chris Batchelor went on to lead influential projects of their own, but the band reformed last year to mark their 30th anniversary, with a week long run at Ronnie Scott’s and performances at Cheltenham and Brecon jazz festivals.
Their set at the Gateshead International Jazz Festival earlier this year proved that they’ve lost none of their eccentric energy, and when they’re packed onto an intimate jazz club stage the atmosphere should be even better. For a night of inspiring music and an insight into British jazz history this Loose Tubes London gig is a must see.
