Mogwai, Roundhouse

Make way from one of the best live acts around: Mogwai. London 2015 gig is one of the best upcoming concerts in the capital.

Mogwai, Roundhouse
Glaswegian quintet Mogwai have their own chapter in the history of British music. Starting 18 years ago, they have acquired an ocean of cult followers; releasing seven albums that have repeatedly made it into the UK top 40 despite the technical, unconventional nature of their content.
They dodge definiton: 'post rock' doesn't cut it. They may be 'art rock', 'shoegaze' or hardcore, but they would steadfastly disagree with any such definition.
They first received widespread critical acclaim for their Zidane soundtrack composition (2006); a success that initiated a string of sold-out shows culminating in an appearance at The Barbican. More recently Mogwai have produced the soundtrack to the French Les Revenants (2013) accompanying the show with a subtle, interweaving and haunting backdrop.
Finally, to the impatient satisfaction of their followers, their eighth album Rave Tapes was excellent: a wordless tower of instrumental rock, buoyed by brooding electronica and baroque synth. This indefinable electronic orchestra is sure to mesmerise this June.
