Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Royal Albert Hall

Next year, London welcomes Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Royal Albert Hall seems fittingly palacial for these kings of 60s showbiz.

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Royal Albert Hall
Musicals have a habit of re-invigorating careers that might otherwise have been lost in the mists of time, and 2005's opening of Jersey Boys, the incredible story of The Four Seasons rise to stardom in the 60s, has done exactly that for their legacy and their octogenarian frontman Frankie Valli, the only remaining of the original Seasons.
Sometimes, you fear that these revivals are exactly the sort of shot-in-the-arm that ageing musicians really don't need – after all, some careers wind down for a reason – but the continued success of Frankie Valli and his soaring tenor-falsetto is proof enough that at least for now he is nowhere near falling into that camp.
Still oozing the showbiz charm by which they made their name and their reputation, the hits of the Four Seasons (one of which, 'The Night', just made a welcome appearance on the big screen, sending Wigan dancefloors wild in Elaine Constantine's delightful Northern Soul) remain as soulful and charming as they did when Frankie and co. were sharing stages with Sinatra and the rest. There won't be many more opportunities to see him this side of the pond, and it's rare to get the chance to see a genuine piece of musical history who still sounds great today – so don't miss it!
