Stacey Kent, Ronnie Scott's

A residency from Stacey Kent: Ronnie Scott's welcomes the sultry singer for a week of concerts.

Stacey Kent, Ronnie Scott's
Grammy-nominated singer Stacey Kent has become an essential feature of the international jazz scene. Her delicate, darting, slightly girlish voice is a very precise instrument, navigating her shimmering Latin melodies with nonchalant ease, but projecting a complex musical personality, the carefree surface not completely concealing a poignant sense of loss.
Kent’s influences are defiantly cosmopolitan. Brought up in New England, she still sings with a light east-coast accent, but she now lives in Britain. Her biggest audiences are in France and Germany, and for her latest show, she’s singing mainly Brazilian and Latin-themed tunes, with a hint, also, of the Portuguese saudade, a traditional form that combines a happy surface with darker depths.
She works with her musician husband Jim Tomlinson, who writes her music, and plays guitar, reeds and flute. For her latest album, they are joined, as lyricist, by the novelist Kazuo Ishiguro, who adds his characteristic intrigue and subtle menace. These pieces are perfectly balanced by the authentic Brazilian repertoire of Jobim and Gilberto.
Wistful, charming, and that irresistible mix of vulnerable and seductive, Stacey Kent’s appearances in an intimate venue like Ronnie’s sell out fast. Book now.
