Marie's Crisis London: New York's legendary show tunes bar comes to town

New York musical theatre bar hits London's Marylebone for five nights only

Marie's Crisis London pop-up
Far off the beaten tourist trail in New York city is a show tunes bar that’s legendary among locals. Tucked away on a quiet street in Greenwich Village, Marie’s Crisis is a late night bar that sees bartenders and punters alike cluster round a piano to sing along to their favourite Broadway hits. For more than four decades, visitors have been showing up to let out their inner diva and drown their sorrows in feel-good, musical merriment (plus a good few drinks).

For one week only this autumn, the cabaret bar is voyaging across the pond, so British musical theatre lovers will get a chance to sample a slice of off, off, off-Broadway life. The original Marie's Crisis is deeply rooted in New York's LGBTQ+ community, so it's fitting that the pop-up is setting up shop in London’s oldest LGBTQ+ venue: Marylebone gay pub City of Quebec.

Singing pianists Kenney M. Green and Adam Michael Tilford from the original bar are making the leap from New York to run the five night pop-up, accompanied by singers and Marie's Crisis regulars Randy Taylor and Jennifer Pace. No tickets required, just turn up ready to gather round a piano and belt out your favourite musical hits.
