Barrio Soho Review ★★★★★

One of Soho's favourite late night venues is relaunching with a new Peruvian chef and a brand new cocktail menu, which should not be missed.

On the menu at Barrio Soho

The Mexican-centric food menu at Barrio Soho comprises surprisingly authentic ingredients, offering more than your traditional burrito or cheese-soaked nachos. From fresh ceviche steeped in tiger’s milk to succulent pig’s trotter croquettes, Barrio Soho’s newly devised menu takes diners on a journey through Mexican cooking.

The small plates, snacks and tacos at Barrio Soho are ideal for sharing and certainly offer a large variety of flavours. Be sure to order the Cactus Quesadillas and the Lamb Chilli Tacos – you’ll be surprised by the intensity of the flavours, with the whole new menu created by the newly appointed Head Chef, Ernesto Pavia. Originally from Peru, Pavia has worked in a three Michelin star restaurant in France, as well as Argentinian steakhouses Garufa and Garufin and, more recently, as Head Chef at London’s celebrated Bubbledogs.

But Barrio Soho is much more than just a Mexican restaurant: a cocktail bar, kitchen and basement club rolled into one, the venue’s quirky Latin interior and the exotic atmosphere give Barrio Soho a distinct neighbourhood feel. Drawing on a sense of community in the heart of bustling Soho, the restaurant's aim is to create a familiar and warm atmosphere. After dinner, head down to Barrio’s lively basement club, always packed with the West End after-work crowd and offering a good value happy-hour on all cocktails, bottled beers and wines. The cocktail menu certainly stands out: don't miss the ever-popular Rumshackle – we're big fans.

If you’re looking for a tasty and relaxed dinner with friends, after-work drinks, or a Latin inspired party, Barrio Soho offers all that and more. Definitely worth a visit.
