Pop Up Café: London Waterloo

Following the success of last year's stint, the Conflict Café, a charity-meets-supper club redefining socially responsible dining, is opening its doors once more between 22 September and 2 October. The restaurant will again unite pacifism and international cuisine through traditional meals from conflict zones.

Pop up food with pedagogical overtones

Peace-conscious charity International Alert will be relaunching the Conflict Café, this time focussing on Lebanon and Sri Lanka, with brief talks from Alert experts and the chefs throughout the meal. The food will be based on the cuisine of the featured country, celebrating the region’s culture through food and establishing a dialogue about its current military conflict.

Conflict Café & Restaurant: Southbank London events

The Lebanese meals will feature dishes such as houmous, tabbouleh, kibbeh, and meghli – a rice-flour based pudding, spiced with caraway, cinnamon and anise, traditionally made in Lebanon to celebrate new life when a baby has been born. Sri Lankan offerings will include Rasam – a tomato-based soup, mutton curry, and Wattalapam – a spiced coconut custard pudding.
