Unusual bars in London: Cahoots, Kingly Court
Secret supper club London
If you, like us, are intrigued by the thought of London’s subterranean network of disused tube stations, the unique speakeasy beneath Soho’s Kingly Court, one of the best secret bars in London, might have piqued your interest when it opened earlier this year.
Basement Galley supper clubs, London
Now Cahoots has teamed up with London supper club group Basement Galley to bring an afternoon of fine dining, cocktails and post-war shenanigans, The Underground Supper Club, on Sunday, 9th August.
The Underground Supper Club: immersive nights out in London
The dining club aims to be an immersive experience, with a menu curated by chef Alex Cooper and featuring an authentic, 1946 four-course menu with specialty pairing cocktails, paying homage to post-war Britain.
Cahoots menu: supper club servings
The summer menu kicks off with a starter of chilled wild garlic and green pea soup with a strawberry emulsion and pea shoots, paired with specialty cocktail 'Give Peas a Chance'. Following this comes an enticing sounding offering of cherry wood vodka and grapefruit cured salmon accompanied by sweet Dijon and fennel flowers and paired with the 'Gipsy’s Kiss'. For the main, they'll be a rich offering of barbecue lamb neck served with white onion and garlic puree, as well as smoked confit aubergine and rosemary croquettes, paired with the See You Later Baked Potato savoury cocktail. Finally an apricot and thyme sorbet with lavender shortbread and lemon posset rounds off the eclectic menu.
1940s London nightlife
Sandbags, bunting and posters urging you to ‘grow your own vegetables’ contribute to the 1940s premise, as does the music policy: jazz, swing, and rock’n’roll, with some electro swing later in the night.
Quirky drinks & clocktails
You can also sample other offerings from Cahoots' cocktail menu: a lengthy eight pages with an extra black market list hidden in an envelope at the back marked ‘Do Not Open’, adding to the experience and perpetuating the growing reputation of Cahoots as one of the most authentic secret cocktail bars London has to offer.
Cool bars london
The fashion for mismatched drinking vessels is observed and cocktails are presented in mugs, hip flasks, tins and vintage milk bottles, but the Tanqueray No. TEN Station Clock cocktail goes one further: it’s served up in an actual clock with a working clock face. Already having gained a reputation as one of the coolest bars in London, this secret cocktail bar & London dining club is certainly not one to miss.
