Morada Brindisa Asador ★★★★

We've got the hots for Brindisa's newest restaurant: Morada Brindisa Asador, Rupert Street, Soho.

Brindisa Tapas

Brindisa Tapas has long been making waves on the London foodie scene. The Brindisa Tapas Kitchens, London Bridge, is their flagship restaurant, priding itself on a menu of authentic Spanish cuisine with an emphasis on 'sustenance, nourishment and warmth'. With the announcement, then, of their new Soho restaurant – rebranded as Morada hopes were high, and the new Rupert Street venue doesn't disappoint.

Tucked around this rather industrial looking street corner just off Piccadilly, the majority of the restaurant is taken by its large 360 degree working kitchen. You're invited to eat your tapas sitting up at the bar, which is rather noisy, in a no-nonsense, laid back Spanish dining, but there are also a number of sharing tables squeezed into the venue proper: the vibe here is much less dinner-oriented, and better aimed at a quiet drink and a nibble.

Based around traditional Spanish 'Asador', the menu is meat and fish heavy, with offerings like a Segovian whole roast suckling pig drawing in a serious foodie audience. There are also skewers from the grill, roasted vegetable salads and Castilian roast milk fed lamb from the Josper oven.

In terms of tapas, Brindisa clearly knows what it's doing, boasting a new innovative menu but with firm emphasis on Spanish heritage and a large variety of authentic cooking techniques. One of the best tapas restaurants London has seen in recent months, Brindisa's lengthy menu means you'll be sure to find plenty to suit all palates, and no doubt return for any of those tempting little plates you might have missed the first time around.
