Mele e Pere Pop-Up, Soho

It’s the eternal summer quandary – do you spend a balmy midsummer’s eve enjoying an aperitif with friends at the pub or ensconced in a cool corner of one of Soho’s most renowned eateries? 

Now you don’t have to choose. As part of their programme of collaborative gastronomic residencies, Sun & 13 Cantons will host Mele e Pere , the innovative Italian trattoria who promise modern Italian cooking using quality ingredients but at affordable prices. 

Think of it as nipping down to your favourite local and finding that the kitchen has been taken over by the best chef in the neighbourhood.  Drawing inspiration from the traditional pub surroundings, head chef Andrea Mantovani has come up with an fresh take on the Great British pub menu. Andrea says "We wanted to come up with dishes that would be relevant to British summertime food, but with an Italian twist”.

Pair your Aperol spritz with delectable Italian-inspired bar snacks: we highly recommend the San Daniele ham with gnocchi fritti, one of the trattoria’s most popular dishes. If you’re feeling sociable, choose a platter including Arancini di Riso and Braised lamb meatballs for £14 and share with your cohort.  

After something more substantial? With Barolo braised beef, smoked pancetta and Asiago cheese, Andrea’s take on the burger brings together the heartiness of British fare with the simple elegance of Italian cuisine. Or pick apart a plate of Fritto Misto with friends; the lightly battered king prawns won’t last long. 

With just a handful of options for both snacks and mains, Mele e Pere present the very best of British summertime with a twist of la dolce vita thrown in for good taste.  

No reservations after 7pm, when tables will be on a first come first served basis.
