Streetfeast at The Power of Summer, Battersea Power Station

London street food market Street Feast teams up with Everyman outdoor cinema for a residency at the Battersea Power Station pop up park this summer.

The Power of Summer

East London’s eclectic collection of street food vendors Street Feast is heading West this summer for a residency at the iconic Battersea Power Station, in conjunction with Everyman Cinema for The Power of Summer.

Beginning on July 10 the high-end street traders venue will be there for 8 weeks in the beautiful surrounds of the Battersea pop-up park, right in the shadow of one of London’s most famous buildings.

This event will be the last time the pop-up park is in use before the power station is redeveloped.

Standing at the forefront of the London night market scene, Street Feast specialises in converting vacant spaces, including car parks, warehouses and even old tube stations, into temporary hives of activity, bursting with food, drink and music. Alongside a rotating line-up of the capital’s finest vendors, such as the infamous Rib Man, Busan BBQ and Smokestak (along with their custom-made 4.5 tonne BBQ Smoke Train), there will be at least five bars and DJs will add live music into the mix.

Street Feast will also feature old favourites, including the finest New York-style burgers at Bleecker Street Burger; aged beef and the best quality melted American cheese combine in a delicate brioche bun. BOB’s Lobster is one of the most famous attractions at Street Feast, serving lobster-centric delights such as lobster mac ’n’ cheese and their signature lobster roll out of a bright red VW Microbus.

Street Feast is also partnering with Everyman Cinema, so alongside the culinary cornucopia you will be able to watch classic and cult films on an outdoor HD screen.

The outdoor cinema has a seating capacity of 250, with 76 premier tickets giving access to bespoke pods providing a more private and intimate experience for couples or small groups.

For the kids, there's Toy Story (19th July, 3.30 pm) and The Jungle Book (12th July, 3.15 pm) amongst the earlier showings. For football fans keen to soak in any atmosphere England’s dismal performance hasn’t sponged up, the 13th of July will also see the World Cup final played live, and the atmosphere is guaranteed to be fun, despite our early exit. Other Culture Whisper picks include the cult classic The Big Lebowski (18th July, 9.00 pm) and writer and director Wes Anderson at his best in Rushmore (16th July, 19.00 pm), but be sure to visit the website for full listings.

With the summer shaping up to be one of the hottest in recent years it should be a perfect season for outdoor cinema, and with Street Feast providing food and drink for all tastes this should be a perfect send-off for the historic Battersea Power Station.

Open from 17:00 on Thursdays and Fridays and 12:00 on weekends. Entry is free before 17:30 and £5 after and all weekend.
