Sunday Suppers with Phil Howard

Michelin-starred chef Phil Howard launches a new series of informal 'Sunday suppers' at his Barnes restaurant Sonny's Kitchen

Sunday Suppers with Phil Howard
He might have been synonymous with the high-end cooking at his double Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant The Square, recently sold to restaurateur Marlon Abela, but Phil Howard has always had an interest in more down-to-earth and less expensive experiences as well. His Barnes establishment Sonny's Kitchen, which he co-owns with Rebecca Mascarenhas, is launching a new series of weekend events, the 'Sunday suppers', which promise to offer excellent food at an affordable price.

Howard's idea is to draw on the American ideal of the unpretentious family supper that takes place every Sunday and is offering a simple two or three-course dinner that can either be enjoyed as a pre or post-cinema or theatre treat, or simply as a nice way of getting friends and family together. Dishes might include asparagus soup with a poached egg to start, prawn, salmon and crab fishcakes with mussels and white wine as a main and a dessert of rhubarb fool. It's priced for all pockets - £19.50 for two courses, £22.50 for three - and promises to be one of the biggest treats in the Barnes/SW area.

Sunday evenings have never looked so appealing.
