All Hallows Eve at Kaspar's, The Savoy

Thirteen for dinner, devilled risotto, bloody beef pie and smoky crushed ice? It can only be Halloween at the Savoy.

Kaspar's Restaurant at The Savoy
The Savoy has been the last word in decadence since the 1800s, but as well as glitz and glamour, the hotel has skeletons aplenty in its closets. As legend has it, Woolf Joel, the South African diamond magnate, held a dinner at the hotel in 1898 for 14 friends, but one cancelled at the last minute. As anyone with an ounce of superstition (or who has read Harry Potter) knows, when 13 dine together, the first to rise will be the first to die.

Joel was shot in Johannesburg weeks later. Ever since, whenever tables of 13 have sat at the Savoy, they have been joined by Kaspar (the best fed sculpture of a cat anywhere in London), who later gave his name to their restaurant. This Halloween, for the spooky cost of £1313.13, 13 guests can book a private room and a five-course menu, with the option of Kaspar's company.

Chef Holgar Jackish has put together a truly spooky sounding menu, including a black devilled risotto, smokey green crushed ice, bloody beef and pumpkin pie and (of course – this is the Savoy) a glass of champagne. If you are looking for a place to celebrate Halloween in luxury, look no further.
