Somersault Festival 2015

Does Britain need any more summer music festivals? With such proliferation over the past decade, it’s getting hard to find a farm or country estate that doesn’t play host to one of them. Somersault’s inaugural run last year provided an affirmative answer.
Set in the Arran family’s Castle Hill estate in North Devon, Somersault is a family friendly festival that promotes active wellbeing over wild abandon. The food is largely provided by reputable independent sources, with bookable feasts from the likes of Valentine Warner and River Cottage.

There is theatre, and comedy from such big names as Tony Law and Sara Pascoe. There are numerous events and attractions for children, including a babysitting service. Most strikingly of all, however, Somersault boasts numerous outward bound and fitness events, including climbing, rafting and coasteering. This is the music festival as a healthy breather from the quotidian.
Of course, the music remains central. This year’s headliners include the enchanting Laura Marling, indie veterans Bombay Bicycle Club. Other performers include Imelda May, Benjamin Clementine, Rae Morris and Jimmy Cliff, with numerous others. Crave the festival experience but prefer horse riding to hangovers? Somersault is for you.
