Love Supreme Festival 2015

UK Summer Jazz Festivals don't get much more bucolic: Love Supreme Festival, Lewes, is back for another year.

Jazz Festival Love Supreme, 2015
Move over, Glyndebourne: there’s a new party in the county. Since 2013, Love Supreme Festival has taken root in the Elizabethan Glynde Place estate. Britain’s only weekend-long rural jazz festival, it combines the sophistication of that quintessentially urban artform with the campsite set-up of the rock event. For two nights, some of the finest acts in the world will take to four stages. If you want to experience the magic of Glastonbury but prefer Coltrane to Kanye, this is the festival for you.
Love Supreme Festival demonstrates a wide interpretation of jazz, bringing together traditionalists and musicians on the edge of other genres. The two headliners fit into the latter category. On Saturday, soul goddess Chaka Khan will lead the bill, while Irish legend Van Morrison closes the weekend on Sunday evening. Both have releases jazz albums alongside other work, so it will be fascinating to see how they chose their sets. Supporting Khan, Saturday will feature Larry Graham, Joshua Redman, Neneh CherrySubmotion Orchestra and many others; Sunday’s likely highlights include Hugh Masekela, Lisa Stanfield, Candi Station and the Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion.
