Rayne Shoes for Stars, Fashion and Textile Museum

Best celebrity shoes from the past century on display at RAYNE Shoes for Stars

RAYNE Shoes for Stars
It's the summer of the shoe this London. Between the dazzling Pleasure and Pain exhibition at the V&A, and the Design Museum's Camper exhibition, it's amazing that the capital found space for a third shoe exhibition in one summer: RAYNE Shoes for Stars at the Fashion and Textile Museum. And yet, of all the shoe exhibitions on in London at the moment, RAYNE shoes is the one most likely to attract serious footwear connoisseurs.
Founded by Henry Rayne in 1899, the success of the British based family business came under Henry's grandson, Edward Rayne, who took charge of the firm in 1952 and established the brand internationally. Since Edward Rayne's successful tenure, the company designed shoes worn by some of the world's most glamorous women, and visitors to the Fashion and Textile museum can admire a wealth of celebrity shoes, including Vivien Leigh, Marlene Dietrich and Brigitte Bardot.
Over 100 examples of shoes reveal the talent of designers ranging from Norman Hartnell to Bruce Oldfield and Mary Quant, as well as Roger Vivier and current designer Laurence Dacade.
Rayne was awarded three Royal Warrants, and has designed the shoes of Queen Elizabeth II over the years, including her wedding shoes.
