Talk: Swedish Fashion Now

Learn more about Scandinavian fashion with a new talk at the Fashion and Textile museum London.

Talk: Swedish Fashion Now
Following on from their avant garde exhibition in 2009, Swedish Fashion: Exploring a New Identity, the Fashion and Textile Museum will be resuming their study of Scandinavian fashion. In this new fashion talk, senior Lecturer in Fashion Studies at Stockholm University and Lund University Philip Warkander will explore new design talent and challenge notions of stereotypical Scandinavian fashion.
Scandinavian fashion has always engendered affection and admiration from the in the know fashion experts and the everyday shopper alike. Labels such as Acne and Fillipa K enjoy a loyal following whilst Cos and &Other Stories are meccas for young professionals. It is the strong, unique aesthetic of Scandinavian fashion that has traditionally induced such a frenzy. It will be interesting to see the extent to which this talk refutes minimalist style, though we look forward to learning about new talent on the Scandinavian fashion scene. Attendees at the talk will also receive a private view of Thea Porter 70's Bohemian Chic.
