New Alexander Wang denim advert

A ludicrously provocative campaign marks the entrance of designer Alexander Wang into the denim world.

Does sex sell? If Alexander Wang's new denim campaign 2014 is anything to go by, the answer is... well, we're not quite sure yet. The new campaign features model Anna Ewers in highly sexualised poses, bronzed, oiled, and suggestively positioned. Of course, this isn't the first time that sex has been used to get an audience's attention. First there was Kate Moss and actor Mark Wahlberg (of Marky Mark good vibrations fame), pressed up against each other for Calvin Klein. More recently American Apparel has forged an entire identity with erotic advertising campaigns.  Alexander Wang's new advert has pushed this idea further still, creating images that are tangibly carnal. Whether Alexander Wang's new advert is effective though, remains to be seen.

The line is the designer's first foray into the highly competitive denim market. It comes at the end of a busy year for Alexander Wang who has not only produced highly praised catwalk shows but also announced a new shop opening in London and released one of the most successful H&M collaborations in recent history.  
The Denim X AW collection features the usual suspects, including a great looking pair of boy fit jeans and the classic black slim fit. Inevitably the range will be a hit, though we feel it might have been anyway without the provocative campaign.
