V&A launch Gloverall A/W 2014 Collection

Gloverall Duffle coats collaborate with the V&A museum for exclusive range

The V&A, one of the best places to visit in London, has joined forces with luxury brand Gloverall to launch an exclusive collection of duffle coats. They feature patterns from the V&A’s extensive collection of textiles. For the collaboration the V&A and Gloverall have worked together on two coats which incorporate the pattern Welwyn Garden City, by Doris Gregg for Footprints, 1926. The bold design looks to the future of Britain after the First World War and was selected for its simplicity, familiarity and optimism.

Gloverall was established in 1951 by Harold and Frida Morris; the original designers and manufacturers of what we now consider to be the classic duffle coat design. They updated the design of the coat which was based on the outerwear of Merchant Navy sailors from the 19th century. The brand has specialised in British made, luxury heritage garments, with ‘Made in Britain’ design and manufacture at the heart of their business values, which the V&A has also upheld since its inception. Over 60 years later Gloverall continues to deliver both contemporary and iconic silhouettes for men, women and children.

With winter coming, these coats are a great way to stay warm. And whilst you're at the V&A, wrapped up in style, you might as well stop by the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition for ultimate fashion kudos.

Available exclusively from the V&A shop this month.
