Top 5 Christmas Design Fairs London 2014

Culture Whisper breaks down the top 5 design fairs across London this festive season

Country Living Christmas Fair 2014
As those favourite woolly jumpers emerge from the back of the cupboard and Christmas shopping pandemonium sets in, visit some of the best Christmas design events London 2014 for bespoke gifts and inspiration.
Country Living Christmas Fair, Business Design Centre, 12th – 16th November 2014
The Country Living Christmas Fair, London 2014 at the Business Design Centre, Islington hosts some of the highlights of British craft from the best artisan designers. Pay a visit to find handcrafted Christmas cards, home-wares and fashion inspiration, as well as sessions on gift wrapping, candle-making, centre pieces and cooking tips from the Leiths School of Food and Wine, London. Particularly exciting will be the guest appearance from the first Great British Bake off winner Edd Kimber, as he cooks up Pace au Chocolate Truffle and a Passion Fruit Caramel for visitors. We love this fair for its taste of Barcelona. Cordorníu, one of the oldest producers of Cava sparkling wine will be doing tasters and a masterclass from the Cordorníu Fizzness School (as delightful as its name suggests).

Spirit of Christmas Fair, Olympia, 4th – 9th November 2014
Olympia’s Spirit of Christmas Fair 2014 boasts high quality products from fashion to interior accessories and decorations, so that visitors are sure to find that perfect gift for friends and family.
And if you get peckish there is of course the Food Hall where artisan producers and winners of the Great Taste award have created some delicious festive treats. There are also a wide range of workshops to discover. While experts in scenting,
Miller Harris andJo Malone London, will be teaching us how to make our homes smell delectable, the Master of Wine at French Champagne producer Louis Roederer will be indulging us in a bit of bubbly. Also make time to hear the secrets of hand-icing Christmas bauble biscuits from the London-based baking company, Biscuiteers, and Christmas Wreath workshops fromThe Dorchester Hotel’s Designer Florist, Phil Hammond, and the Cliveden House florist, Hannah Bignell. We are particularly looking forward to stretching our cooking skills with lessons on how to de-bone that tricky partridge in a pear tree.

British Red Cross Christmas Fair London, Kensington Town Hall, 26th November 2014
This luxury Christmas Fair in Kensington Town Hall will host 90 stalls of festive gifts and treats. We love this fair for its live music, chocolate tasting workshops and cheeky gin cocktails. A talk from guest speaker Claire Bertschinger, an activist in advocacy on behalf of suffering people in the developing world, also adds a touch of reflective solemnity to the event: a welcome change from the glitz of other fairs.

Simply Christmas, ExCel London, 28th – 30th November 2014
Site of the 2012 Summer Olympics and now an enormous exhibition space, the ExCel London will play host to the Simply Christmas Fair 2014. With inspiring demonstrations and workshops including how to make gingerbread men garlands and Christmas cards, gift wrapping, and crochet, we can’t wait to visit this unique shopping experience. Crafty Beggars duo Julie Peasgood and Wendy Turner Webster, who are soon to appear on our televisions with their ultimate crafty challenge, will also be there, selling an array of Sock Teddies and Desk Hogs. We are as intrigued as we are baffled. And if the browsing becomes too much pay a visit to the champagne and mulled wine bar where delicious gingerbread lattes and chocolate orange mochas are being brewed.
