Experience the future of design at the Design Museum London’s latest exhibition. Four rising design stars of the future have responded to the theme of disruption in ingenious and exciting ways. 

Now in its seventh year, Design in Residence invites four young UK-based designers to embark on a period of reflection, research and critical rigour. Speaking of his disruption theme Deyan Sudjic, Design Museum Director, said: “It’s conventionally considered almost a bad thing — difficult pupils, bad neighbours, ill-considered town planning — it is now the most sought after quality in a new product.”

The designers in residence 2014 include James Christian, who’s examination of past failed housing schemes shakes up the homogeneity of current British housing. Meanwhile, Patrick Stevenson-Keating explores our relationship with money, highlighting how we could put the most mundane of financial transaction to good use. Over to the work of Ilona Gaynor, loopholes in the judicial system are exposed to facilitate the staging of an illegal event, and Torsten Sherwood disrupts conventional building systems to create a new kind of children's construction toy.
