WORLD BALLET DAY IS STREAMED FREE OVER 24-HOURS ON 1 NOVEMBER. CLICK HERE FOR ACCESS, OR JOIN THROUGH YOUTUBE OR FACEBOOK

World Ballet Day came into being10 years ago with the aim of giving ballet-loving audiences an in-depth look into their favourite performance art by taking them behind the scenes to show some of what goes into creating the perfect beauty we see on stages worldwide, as well as coming up close and personal with some of their favourite ballet stars.

It proved an inspired initiative and over the past decade World Ballet Day has grown and its audience ballooned. This year World Ballet Day celebrates its tenth anniversary with a free 24-hour stream in which more than 60 international companies participate.

Here's a little something to whet your appetite:

Led by The Royal Ballet, Australian Ballet and San Francisco Ballet, some 60 companies from six continents will share their morning class, rehearsals and special features. Among the companies taking part are Cuba's Acosta Danza and Ballet Nacional de Cuba, South Africa's Joburg Ballet and Cape City Ballet, North America's American Ballet Theatre, Ailey II and Les Grands Ballets de Montreal, from Europe The Royal Danish Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and Bayerishes Staatsballet, from Asia National Ballet of Japan, National Ballet of China and K-Ballet.

That's some list... and it mentions but a few of this year's participants.

And as a special treat this year there will be a social media moment where audiences can film their best pirouette, with a selection of the best clips shown as part of The Royal Ballet’s livestream. Here's your opportunity to become a small part of this global event - get practicing those pirouettes!
