Bouncing Cats & Boom Boom Pups, The Place

Graffiti, beatbox and rap is art, music and poetry by another name. Discover whole new worlds at The Place

Bouncing Cats
Welcome to AnimaLand: a magical place where rapping, beatboxing and graffiti-scrawling cats meet equally edgy and urban dogs, and decide to party-on-down.

This custom made storybook by spoken word supremo Maxwell Golden and artist Mr Dane is brought to life in North London's The Place.

Inside a purpose-build graffiti installation depicting the boarder between Meow Gate and Canine Road, Golden and Mr Dane rap the storybook lyrics and teach children beatboxing and freestyle hip-hop improvisation as they go.

Graffiti, beatbox and rap is just art, music and poetry by another name, and we think introducing children to the creative possibilities of all three subjects through mediums that they associate with cool street culture, is an act of genius.

Commissioned by the Southbank Centre and supported by The Place.

Suitable for children aged 5-9
