Admirers of slick hip-hop dancing need look no further than the Boy Blue Entertainment Platform.

Hip-hop is growing in popularity and Boy Blue has a reputation for filling venues with sell-out, stylish shows. Back in 2007 their hard-hitting show Pied Piper won an Olivier Award and lead to their establishment as Barbican Centre Artistic Associates. The troupe also offer plenty of extra, exciting events for hip-hop aficionados.

Essentially, if you love gritty street style, the Boy Blue dancers are guaranteed to enthuse and entertain you.

Last time at the Barbican:

Boy Blue will present the world premiere of new triple bill, Blak Whyte Gray, in the Theatre. This Barbican co-production and co-commission is a response to life today, giving expression to the experiences of young people inhabiting a society in flux.

Fuelled by an emotional energy and desire for change, Blak Whyte Gray pairs the concentrated physicality of various hip-hop dance styles with the rhythmical groove of music and moves evoking Africa.

In The Pit, the spotlight shines on the next generation of UK hip-hop and dance pioneers for NeXT. Kloe Dean and Tyrone Isaac-Stuart are two emerging artists handpicked and mentored by Boy Blue’s founders Kenrick ‘H20’ Sandy and Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante.

Boy Blue are also hosting a panel discussion on the future of hip-hop and a Weekend Lab offering students and professional dancers insight into their methods.

Further hip-hop happenings will take place in the Barbican foyers with freestyle events and performances by dynamic new artists. And, for fans who want to dance the night away themselves, there’s also an after party to look forward to!
