With his oversized spectacles and tweedy attire, Jarvis Cocker now seems a thousand leagues removed from the impish rouge who once mooned Michael Jackson at the Brit Awards. Wireless NightsRadio 4 show since 2012, sees Cocker meet people whose lives run by under the cover of darkness. From nightwatchmen at Euston to badger-watchers in Hastings, the show explores the hidden denizens of the after hours. Now, as part of the BBC Proms’ series of events celebrating the corporation's diverse radio stations, Cocker will bring Wireless Nights to the Royal Albert Hall.
The late concert – which promises to be ‘a nocturnal investigation of the human condition’ –will feature a mixture of live music and the spoken word. The BBC Philharmonic will be on hand, conducted by the emerging star Maxime Tortelier. Although details of the orchestral programme are scarce, expect to be surprised and stimulated by the multifarious sounds of the night.

£5 Promming tickets available on the day.
