Aurora Orchestra make it easy on 7 Sept when it plays Beethoven from memory in the open air, nearby, off Granary Square, at 6PM. These fantastically resourceful musicians are back indoors at Kings Place on 17 Oct, at 7PM, when they are joined by Imogen Cooper in Mozart's Piano Concerto No 25, in a chamber arrangement, and Schubert's silvery Piano Quintet in A major, nicknamed The Trout.

On Sat 7 Nov, Aurora continue their journey through the Mozart Piano Concertos with Louis Schwizgebel, playing No 26 in D, plus the Ravel Piano Trio in A minor. Javier Perianes is the soloist in the Mozart Piano Concerto No 27 on Sat 12 Dec, with the Schumann Piano Quintet in E-flat.

Aurora Orchestra performs regularly at Kings Place

Kings Place residents the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment continue their fascinating series incorporating music, science and philosophy in Bach, the Universe and Everything: The Time Traveller, on Sun 4 Oct, 11:30AM. Dr Fay Dowker, Professor of Theoretical Physics at Imperial College London, talks about our concept of future, and the OAE performs the cantata Ich bin vergnügt mit meinem Glücke, BWV 84.

Other artists to listen and look out for include The Sixteen in their first choral concerts for six months (19 Sept), singers I Fagiolini in a programme inspired by the seasons (20 Sept), vocal ensemble Voces8 (2 Oct), and the scintillating Brodsky Quartet (31 Oct, 6 Nov) playing Beethoven and others.

Several concerts are given twice in one evening, so that more people can attend, despite the capacity of the halls being reduced by social distancing needs. But numbers are still tight. Best book early, to return to the uplifting world of live singing and playing...
