Hot from his towering success at Covent Garden this spring, Bryn Terfel takes the title role in Mussorgsky’s tumultuous opera Boris Godunov, with the Chorus and Orchestra of the Royal Opera House conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano.

Boris Godunov tells the chilling story of a tsar’s ruthless ambition and downfall - he has murdered the nine-year-old heir to the throne in order to be crowned emperor himself, but is so haunted by the apparent spectre of his victim (actually a monk in disguise) and threatened by the popular support for this Young Pretender, that he dies of guilt and shame.
