Aurora Orchestra: Beethoven live, with live audience

A live symphony concert, with audience and players safely together again, thanks to London's flexible friends

Aurora Orchestra will play Beethoven's Symphony No 7 outdoors to a live audience
Diaries out! Device at the ready!! Aurora Orchestra is playing a live concert to a live audience at King's Cross on Tuesday 7 September at 6PM. Book now – there is sure to be a rush for seats in the safely spaced open-air auditorium.

Aurora Orchestra, under Nicholas Collon, has always been among the most adaptable, flexible and imaginative of London orchestras. Its performances from memory have given a new freshness to the most familiar works. It has also widened the classical music audience with family events, multi-media programmes and lecture recitals.

Beethoven was not only the composer who broke the mould countless times, opening doors for those who followed. He also wrote at length, and with passion.

And the words he used on introducing his 7th Symphony to Vienna in 1813 could have been written now, with an eye on the world's key workers during the pandemic: 'We are moved by nothing but pure patriotism and the joyful sacrifice of our powers for those who have sacrificed so much for us.'

Aurora plays this forward-looking and uplifting symphony again at the Proms, on 10 Sept. But you can hear the performance first, played from memory, and live, if you act quickly! The concert is ideal for families too – short, dynamic and easy to reach.

We couldn't be more excited. A real live full-scale orchestra, playing to a substantial audience. It will be quite like old times.
