Firmdale Film Clubs: The Charlotte Street Hotel

Three-course dinner and a movie in the Firmdale Hotels' luxury cinema screening rooms is one of the best things to do in London this weekend.

Firmdale Film Clubs: The Charlotte Street Hotel
The Firmdale Hotel Group is known for some of London's best boutique hotels. Their weekend Film Clubs, held at the Charlotte Street Hotel, Soho Hotel and Covent Garden Hotel, offer discerning cinephiles a chance to enjoy their favourite films in the luxurious surrounds of the hotels' customized screening rooms. The clubs are fast becoming established as some of the best places to watch classic films in London, and the Firmdale's latest acquisition, the Ham Yard hotel, has just been blessed with an impressive 160-seater screening room, nestled away through their downstairs bar and normally closed to the public.
Dinner and a movie
As well as the carefully curated line-up of films to be screened in their state-of-the-art cinema rooms, the hotels invite film-buffs to follow up their cinema experience with a two or three-course lunch, dinner or Afternoon Tea; this along with the film is a steal for the £35 ticket price. For those looking for unique cinemas in London, look no further than Fitzrovia's best hotel.
On the menu
After the viewing, Film Club attendees can then enjoy a choice of dishes from their award-winning (and aptly named) Oscar restaurant, which has earned a place as one of the best restaurants in Fitzrovia. The Charlotte Street Hotel's set menu offers diners a choice of starters, including beetroot and puy lentil salad garnished with pomegranate or a delectable sounding confit duck leg with apple and balsamic purée and spiced poached prunes. For mains, they're serving up a choice of smoked goats cheese and cherry tomato quiche, a slow-cooked jacobs ladder with watercress and roasted new potatoes or a tranche of farmed halibut with spinach & sorrel cream and samphire. And, to finish it all off, film lovers are invited to choose from desserts of chilled vanilla rice pudding with strawberries and mint, or a dark chocolate parfait with spiced cake crumbs and baileys ice cream. You're also invited to supplement your evening (or lunch) with a glass of Prosecco for an extra £15, or a selection of Neal’s Yard cheeses for £7.50.
Guests can then enjoy a drink at the hotel bar, which boasts a range of decadent cocktails including a passion and ginger caipirinha, a rasberry and lychee bellini, a bespoke Bloody Mary, or our personal favourite, the hotel's own Lady Charlotte.
Weekend options
The films commence at 7pm on Fridays and 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and viewers are given the choice of eating before or after. Weekend guests may be tempted by the Charlotte Street Hotel's lauded Afternoon Tea, which includes offerings both sweet (traditional English cakes, scones and chocolate treats) and savoury (ham and gruyere toasties or chicken and rocket sandwiches) for something lighter than the full-blown three course extravaganza. No better reason, then, to the Charlotte Street Hotel or one of the Firmdale's other weekend Film Club venues for dinner and a movie in a perfect date-night setting.
